I've just been speaking to my father who has some lenses gathering grit in his cranium. He mentioned he found this Arsat tilt-shift every bit well as a Nikon tilt-shift (not sure which). I convinced him he doesn't need two of them so he'southward sending the Arsat to me. Wink

What am I getting?
I know what a tilt-shift is only I've never used ane so I don't know a skilful ane from a bad one.

Arsat is a name put to a lot of unlike lenses. I think the nearly mutual tilt-shift is the 2.viii/80mm. Optically they are identical to the original Arsats/Volnas that were the standards for medium format cameras like the Kiev sixty/6c/88cm and Pentacon six. Because of the larger image coverage, they could be adjusted for tilt shift applications on 35mm pretty easily.

I'm not too sure about the 35mm Photax for tilt-shift. Pitiful.

Optically identical to the Kiev version of the Hartblei Super Rotator 35/2.eight, but much more express mechanically. If you're going to utilise it on a Nikon trunk, the knobs might hit the pentaprism housing depending on how you rotate the lens.

I only have Catechism bodies so I'g hoping this won't be an issue.

At that place'southward a lot more than info about the Hartblei Super Rotator 35/2.eight online and optically it doesn't await bad at all. I've got some reading to do regarding how to employ this blazon of lens, I think it may bear witness to be a useful tool.

I once odered a copy of this lens (Sony mountain) on Ebay from the Ukraine. The lens was misassembled and completely out of focus. The front lens chemical element also seemed to be fabricated of plastic (being warm to the affect). I was refunded by the vendor.

I recently got a copy of the older (Pentacon6) version of this lens from the United kingdom of great britain and northern ireland. This lens is just great. Abrupt broad open with splendid colour rendition and the tilt mechanism works very well.

The older lenses (Pentacon 6) are much better than the newer (Arax / Photex).

This lens arrived this morning and I think it's safe to say it has never seen the light of day. It looks similar it is make new, not even a fingerprint in sight. Shocked
I'm certain my father has never used it, he says he doesn't know how to. (that's two of us)
Apparently he got it as role of a 'box of bits' that bought via a local newspaper ad.

I'll have fun learning how to drive information technology. Very Happy (at least, once the adapter arrives...it's a Nikon mount Rolling Eyes )

I had the shift only version of this lens and used it quite a scrap on my Sony a850. Optically, it was actually a pretty impressive lens. Stopped down to f/11, I plant the sharpness to hold up quite well, even fully shifted. The one unfortunate characteristic of this lens, especially being a perspective command lens, was the distortion. I frequently found that after initially leveling the camera unshifted, once I began to shift the lens, the vertical lines would autumn apart, requiring me to tweak the cameras position to attain some level of compromise. Also similar rawhead mentioned above, these Arsat tilt/shift lenses often foul the prism housing on DSLRs. I had issues with the aligning knob hitting the prism housing on my a850, which prevented shifting straight downwards, merely other that that information technology cleared. Had I had the tilt/shift version, I call up the clearance would have been severely hindered. Anyways, I ended up selling the Arsat to assist fund a Schneider 28/ii.eight Super Angulon (which is a fantastic lens by the way).

I have merely lined-up the lens with my 7D and tin can see how there may exist an issue with the housing. I recall information technology volition depend on how the Nikon adapter fits.

"The one unfortunate feature of this lens, specially being a perspective control lens, was the baloney. I often establish that later initially leveling the photographic camera unshifted, once I began to shift the lens, the vertical lines would fall apart, requiring me to tweak the cameras position to achieve some level of compromise." -extra | ordinary
This is worrying to me, the master reason I wanted to endeavor this lens was to have my buildings looking straight. Confused If I'one thousand constantly adjusting shift-camera, shift-camera, I might well kickoff to lose my patience.

I'll meet what happens when the adapter arrives.
